MEHITS Witness Test

Turn HVAC design into an exact science and make your heating and cooling system operation completely transparent, predictable and reliable

MEHITS Witness Test is an additional service for consultants and customers, to enable them to know in advance how the unit will operate once installed, verifying design assumptions, performance and noise emission levels, as well as operation in exceptional conditions. Witness Test adds up to MEHITS comprehensive, certified standard testing procedures applied to all units, as a possibility to study in advance how the unit integrates once installed, eliminating any risk at start up and during operation.

Witness Test Facilities

MEHITS has important manufacturing locations for witness tests in Belluno, Bassano and Pavia focused on testing chillers, reversible chillers units and high precision air conditioners. Carried out in modern, sophisticated laboratiories, MEHITS witness tests combine the advantages of empirical evidence with the guarantee of certified performances, delivering consultants and clients with the most reliable certificates of performance in the market.

Witness test service can be ordered as an additional service when ordering a unit.

Hydronic systems

Performance Witness Test

Following operating modes - multiple choice is possible – are measured:

  • Cooling only, air and water source
  • Heat pump air source and water source, water or gas side reversible
  • Heat Recovery

All parameters are read and measured by the acquisition system in stable conditions. Tests are carried out in accordance with EN14511:2011.

Performance parameters read and measured in stable conditions. The functional and performance parameters read and displayed by the acquisition system are the following:

  • R-phase current (A)
  • S-phase current (A)
  • T-phase current (A)
  • Line voltage (V)
  • Input power (kW)
  • Power factor
  • Evaporator/condenser water inlet temperature (°C)
  •  Evaporator/condenser water outlet temperature (°C)
  •  Evaporator/condenser water flow (m3/h)
  • Evaporator/condenser capacity (kW)
  • Total EER (compressors and fans) at 100% or at partial pressure loads
  • Test room air temperature (°C)
  •  Percentage of unit/compressors capacity in stable conditions (N° Load, N° Comp)

All performance parameters are read and measured by the acquisition system ONLY in stable conditions. The values measured during transient times ARE NOT RELEVANT. A test report summarizing the test results shall only be released in stable conditions.


Acoustic Witness Test

Climaveneta noise tests are performed as per the intensimetric method.

Noise data are recorded in stable conditions only.

The acoustic parameters read are the following:
- Sound level measured as per ISO 3744*

*Sometimes, being forced to take advantage of the hours with lower background noise, the outdoor temperature may be less than 20°C.

At the end of the test, which is performed only in stable conditions, it is issued a summarizing document including the measured acoustic performances.


Low outdoor air temperature operation

Chiller operation and start-up is tested in a dedicated structure cooled with liquid azoto, creating outdoor air temperature down to - 25°C.


Special Witness Test requests

Special testing requests exceeding normal testing rooms operating limits or not listed in the technical document can be required as special witness test, and are evaluated on a case by case basis.

Acoustic Witness Test

Climaveneta offers acoustic witness testing according to ISO3744. Acoustic parameters read and measured using in-house instruments.

Sound power level (SWL) is calculated starting from the measure of the sound pressure level (SPL) which is measured in accordance with ISO 3744.


Special Witness Test requests

Special testing requests exceeding normal testing rooms operating limits or not listed in the technical document can be required as special witness test, and are evaluated on a case by case basis.
